  • Hull Respray – Grand Banks 46

A Returning Customer, the Grand banks 46 was re-sprayed late 2018.
First we taped and prepped the hull for sanding and erect/adjust staging as required.
All planks and plank seams were sanded.
A wood primer was applied to all required areas, 4 coats in total, sanding between each coat.
All areas that were primed were then sanded, de-dusted and prepped for the hull’s pre-coat, 4 coats of Internationals PreKote were then applied
Next was to tent up the Super structure to protect from over spray, the a re-sand of the area ready for Top-coat.
The working area was then sprayed with 4 coats of Awlcraft 2000 Topcoat, colour used in this application was Snow White.

A final light sand around all areas worked, the whole area then buffed to finish off.

  • Westerly Conway – Refurbishment of internal floors, headlining and Treadcote

Boat was already with us for a Full osmosis treatment followed by a Copper coat application.
While in the workshop the owner opted to have some areas of the boat refurbished, starting with the headlining’
We removed all the old headlining from the saloon and front cabin, on removal once the headlining materials was separated from the ply wood panels, each panel was assess to see if it could be re-used.

All surface areas were cleaned in preparation for the new headlining to go back up. Once up they were finished off with teak battening, varnished with 2 coats of Gloss varnish.

Quite a few of the panles had to be replaced so we set about measuring and cutting the new panels from ply, these were thenc covered in Nautolex Vinyl, the colour used in this application was Ivory.

All surfaces were clean and prepped ready for the new headlining to be refitted.

Once fitted we finsihed it off with teak battening which we applied 2 coats of Gloss varnish.

The flooring in the saloon and the cockpit stairs were in need of some TLC, so we removed all the loose flooring, taped up ready for sanding, sanded then applied 6 coats of varnish.

The tread on the deck was looking dull and faded, so first we gave all the tread a good clean with Treadmaster cleaner, we followed this up with the application of Treadcote paint, the colour used here was fawn.

We also carried out a Osmosis Treament followed by the application of Copper coat, please click the link below to take a look –

  • Azumit 38 Teak floor install and storage fabrication

This project was carried out in 2013/14 here at Southsea Marina.

The first stage of the project was for the old carpet flooring to removed from the saloon, cabin hallway, galley and steering area.
The areas were then cleaned and any old glue/bonding materials removed.
We then template the new flooring areas ready for the 12mm teak and holly plywood, templates are cut and dry fitted in place.
Once all parties are in agreement the flooring is varnished with 5 coats then fitted and sealed with Sikaflex.

Next to section was a repair to the aft teak deck, the rotten sections were cut away and the area cleaned ready for new teak.
New decking was fitted in place, all the seams were sanded, ready for priming.
We then applied sikaflex primer and sikaflex 290 Deck caulking, the whole area was sanded back to unify in with the rest.

The owner also needed a combined storage for life rafts and seating area.
We measure and templated the area, fabricated a mould for the unit, gel coated the mould and fibre glassed the new pod.
Broke the pod out of the mould, cleaned up and polished to finish.
This was then fitted to the boat, 2 locker lids were fabricated along with 2 life raft pods, finally we fabricated a new fibre glass back rest and fitted this.
